Potholes can cause serious damage to your vehicle if you don\u2019t avoid them. Depending on the speed you\u2019re driving at and the size of the pothole will determine the damage your vehicle suffers from. If you want to learn more about the damage potholes can cause and what you can do to avoid them, then you\u2019re at the right place.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How are potholes formed?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When water under the road freezes during cold temperatures, this leads to the road surface breaking and causing potholes to be formed. As more cars drive over the damaged road, the surface gradually gets weaker and weaker, leading to damage and eventually forming a pothole.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Punctures<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most common types of damage caused by potholes is a puncture. For instance, if you drive over a pothole too quickly, the impact can cause the tyre to crack. This leads to a puncture, which means you must invest in a new tyre. If a puncture is left untreated, the tyre will begin to deflate, which could put you in danger as you could lose control of your vehicle. You may put yourself in further danger as this can lead to the wheel bursting while driving, resulting in you losing control of your vehicle. A good way to check to see if your wheels are in working condition is by cleaning them and then carefully inspecting them for any cracks or bends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How can you prevent your car from being damaged by potholes?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main way to prevent any sort of damage from being caused by potholes is to reduce your speed when driving over them. When you are driving at a slower speed, you are less likely to cause any damage to your vehicle, and you\u2019ll have more control over the car. A slower driving speed will also help prevent any punctures from occurring from the pothole. If you notice a pothole that\u2019s very deep and wide, you should try and avoid it by driving around the pothole.
