History of Firestone tyres

Founded in Ohio in 1900 by Harvey Firestone, The Firestone Tire & Rubber Company has built up a strong reputation in the tyre world. Firestone worked hard at becoming one of the leading tyre manufacturers in America and became the first tyre manufacturer to sign an exclusive contract with Ford to have Firestone tyres fitted as original equipment on all Ford vehicles.

Making their first appearance in 1909, Firestone has a long history in the racing sector and has enjoyed much more success on Indy car race circuits than any other tyre brand. Originally, the tyres used on race cars were the same as those fitted on everyday cars. This demonstrated the high quality, performance and safety of the tyres at high speeds as well as on general roads.

Leaders in safety and innovation, Firestone was the first brand to feature an anti-skid tread pattern, which was a pivotal point for the tyre industry as we know it today.

Why Choose Firestone tyres?

Firestone is famous for producing tyres with impressive gripping qualities even in the most extreme conditions. In 1998 Firestone merged with tyre giant Bridgestone, and continued to be a brand recognised for being at the forefront of technology.

Firestone manufactures tyres of the highest quality and combines both safety and performance to produce a range of affordable tyres which are perfect for small and medium-sized cars. They have developed a tyre range which consists of a large variety of tyres designed with safety, reliability and performance in mind.
