Bridgestone Officially Unveils the Turanza 6

Bridgestone, an automotive industry giant and forward-thinker in terms of sustainable mobility have officially unveiled their new flagship tyre: the Bridgestone Turanza 6. It is a summer touring tyre and offers unrivalled wet performance which leads to an exceptionally safe experience in less-than-ideal conditions. With its increased mileage and improvement in both fuel and energy efficiency, it also further aligns with Bridgestone’s sustainability goal.

When tested by independent TÜV SÜD, the Bridgestone Turanza 6 far outshined competitors and was also found to be the best-in-class in terms of cornering manoeuvres, straight line performance and also took top marks with its EU label grade of A in wet grip.

After conducting thorough consumer research into the needs and requirements of motorists, it was found that 86% of drivers claimed that wet performance was one of the key qualities of a safe tyre. Wet conditions were identified as a key challenge faced by motorists which drove Bridgestone to develop a tyre with the best wet performance possible. This was a key motivator in developing the Turanza 6 due to Bridgestone’s long-term commitment to creating safe automotive solutions.

Technology-Driven Sustainability

Due to Bridgestone’s ever-growing mission to enhance sustainability on the roads, a lot of thought was put into ensuring that the Turanza 6 provides better mileage. With a 22% mileage improvement compared to its predecessor the Turanza 6 is confidently a much greener tyre. Moreover, a 4% reduction in rolling resistance when compared to the previous Turanza as well as its EU label A-grade in this area further contribute to its overall sustainability. This is supported by its new aerodynamic rimguard which has been developed to reduce air resistance on the tyre while driving.

As the result of a multitude of different state-of-the-art technologies, Bridgestone have broken new ground in terms of tread pattern, compound and construction. Included within these technologies are TECHSYN and ENLITEN which serve to further optimise performance while keeping sustainability at heart.

Another crucial stage in developing the Turanza 6 was Bridgestone’s use of their Virtual Tyre Technology. This enables the tyre to be digitally created, tested and improved before having to build any physical prototypes. Bridgestone were able to test and evaluate the Turanza 6’s performance in a range of conditions which saw a saving of 21% of raw materials and CO2 emissions and also cut 60,000 kilometers and 7.7 tonnes of CO2 from physical outdoor testing.

Ideal for EVs and Hybrids

The ENLITEN technology utilised by the Turanza 6 makes it an optimal choice for both electric vehicles as well as hybrids. The Turanza 6’s reduced rolling resistance helps to save battery life while its increased wear tolerance supports higher weight and higher torque. Furthermore, a reduction in noise further adds to an all-round pleasurable driving experience and compliments the quietness of an electric engine.

Sustainability at Heart

Emilio Tiberio, COO & CTO of Bridgestone EMIA, commented: “We’re delighted to introduce our latest class-leading tyre, the Bridgestone Turanza 6, which was developed using ground-breaking technologies to provide our customers with a safe, sustainable and efficient tyre that performs when they need it most. We’re particularly proud of the Bridgestone Turanza 6’s wet-weather performance, giving drivers control and confidence in the most demanding conditions, even on the rainiest days.”

The Bridgestone Turanza 6 will be available across the European region from January 2023 in a multitude of options – 136 sizes from 16” to 22’’ in the replacement summer line-up for both passenger cars as well as on-road SUVs.

Across the next few months, Bridgestone is set to reveal several partnerships with leading car manufacturers who have chosen custom-engineered Bridgestone Turanza 6 tyres as original fitments for their new car models.
